New Characters!

In last weeks episode Glenn and Tara came across Sgt. Abraham Ford, Rosita Espinosa, and Dr. Eugene Porter.  Some of you know who they are from the comics (issue 53) and others are left wondering who they are and what they want. We can't be too sure the television series will follow the comic book series. In the comics Rick and company met Sgt. Abraham Ford, Rosita Espinosa, and Dr. Eugene Porter on Hershel's farm. Who knows what will happen, we'll just have to wait for tonight!

The Ongoing "Black Man Problem"

The Walking Dead is noteworthy for having one of the most racially diverse zombie survivor casts: the band of survivors has included a Mexican family, an Asian Indian doctor, two “rednecks”, a samurai-sword-wielding Black woman, and an Asian man. This is a show where both men and women kick ass.
It’s ironic that The Walking Dead could have such an obvious “Black Man problem”
Since the first season of The Walking Dead, the show has failed to highlight Black characters when the show takes place in Atlanta, Georgia. In the first season, there were only two Black characters, Morgan and T-Dog, neither of them received significant screen-time as we all know.
More specifically The Walking Dead has not been able to have two Black Men at the same time. As soon as another Black Man is introduced to the band of survivors he dies or the already existing Black Man dies. This has happened for three seasons now, I just hope Tyreese can hang on a little while longer. His future is not looking too bright...

This pattern has spawned many memes:

New Series: 'Helix'

Syfy is launching a new series called Helix, which features a group of CDC scientists traveling to the Arctic to investigate a disease outbreak. The first episode aired on Friday, January 10th.
The virus turns humans into creatures similar to the zombies on The Walking Dead. The executive producer of Helix Steve Maeda says they aren't trying to make a zombie show.
"We're really trying to not make it a zombie show," he says. "I would say the main difference about our vectors, as we call them, is that they are not kind of mindless sort of eating machines, and that's something that you'll see in later episodes."
"You know what? The comparisons will come, and that's OK," Maeda continues. "But we're really trying to do something that feels different than the typical zombie show."

Do you think Helix is ripping off ideas from The Walking Dead?

I didn't watch the premiere of Helix, but I'm willing to give it a chance. Even if Helix is good, no one can beat The Walking Dead, no one.

The next episode of Helix airs January 17th. Watch it and tell me what you think.

New character coming!

Meet Gareth played by Andrew J. West!

West will appear in the second half of the fourth season. His character, Gareth, doesn't seem to be a long term character on the show. As of right now West is credited as a guest star in season four and could be given the option to become a series regular in season five.

What do you think about the addition of a new cast member?

**Spoiler Alert** Where the show might go next...

After the events of the most recent episode of "The Walking Dead," it's hard to imagine where the show might go next. Lucky for us it seems that after two seasons of  the show heading off in different directions from the comics, the show has finally hooked back up with the plot of Robert Kirkman's comic book.
Here are a few places the show might go when it comes back on February 9th. **Spoilers**

The Road

This is kind of an obvious one, but after a season and a half of being in one place, it's once again time for the group to hit the road. In the comic books, after the attack on the prison, Rick and the others take a while to meet up again; and for a while have no clear destination in mind.

The Farm
This one doesn't exactly come from the comics, but rumor has it that the next stop for Rick and the others is Hershel's farm. It makes sense, as Maggie and Beth may want to go home after their father was cruelly executed. And it may tie into a story line from the books that finds Maggie trying to commit suicide.
Rumors also state that while at The Farm we'll meet new characters Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita, which will lead to ...

The Capitol
Nope, not the one in Panem. Eugene drops a bombshell on the survivors, claiming to be a scientist in touch with the US Government in Washington, D.C. Not only that, but they know how to stop the zombie plague. Though they don't quite make it all the way to the White House in the comics, seeing the remains of Washington might be a shocking, terrifying way to leave us at the end of the season four.

The Hunters
A short stop that we expect the show will get to sooner rather than later. One of the most horrifying storylines from the comics has Rick encountering a group of survivors who manage to get through the harsh winter by eating people. In the comics, they eat a one-legged Dale, who's been bitten by zombies. In the TV show, Dale died, Hershel lost his leg in his place, and then Hershel had his head chopped off in Tyreese's place.

The Safe Zone
There's probably not time to get here by the end of season four, but this is coming. The current storyline in the comics finds Rick taking the group to the Alexandria Safe Zone, a better version of Woodbury. They take control, and come into conflict with a man even more dangerous than The Governor, Negan. If you're looking for a plot line for season five, and possibly even season six, look no further.

Will 'The Walking Dead' kill off Rick?

In the trailer Rick is seen staring into a mirror not really recognizing who he is and then near the end Carl is desperately trying to wake his father. So the question is: Will 'The Walking Dead' kill off Rick?

Knowing how Greg Nicotero, Robert Kirkman. and other producers of the show love to make up these major plot twists that have viewers on the edge of their sits, screaming at the TV or taking the internet to express their rage, I think it is very possible that Rick will die this season or early in season five.

The last episode we saw in December, Rick was not in very good shape both physically and emotionally. He is obviously distraught over the death of Hershel and has no idea where Judith is. That could very well have been his breaking point. He has experienced too many deaths of loved ones, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back from this one.

I don't think he is emotionally capable of being the leader of the group anymore. There are several other characters that I think would make great replacements.

Daryl would be a great leader because he is bad ass. He isn't afraid to get down and dirty and knows how     fight. He also has a gentle side.

Carl is also a candidate even though he is young he has proven his maturity this season. He has become a good fighter and could definitely follow in his father's foot steps.

Then there are Maggie and Glenn. These two would be great if they led the group together. They understand each other and make a great tag team when if comes to killing zombies.

(Some of) My Favorite Walking Dead Quotes

"I'm a pirate."
-The Governor

"How about a big hug for your old pal, Merle?"

-Merle

"I shot my mom. She was out. Hadn't turned yet. I ended it. It was real."

-Carl

"You got the... short hair. You're not a lesbian? My, my this is interesting."

-Axel

"I must be the first brother in history to break into prison."

-Tyreese

"It's a Cherokee Rose. The story is that when American soldiers were moving Indians off their land on the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee mothers were grieving and crying so much 'cause they were losing their little ones along the way from exposure and disease and starvation. A lot of them disappeared. So the elders, they said a prayer; asked for a sign to uplift the mothers' spirits, give them strength and hope. The next day this rose started to grow where the mothers' tears fell. I'm not fool enough to think there's any flowers blooming for my brother. But I believe this one bloomed for your little girl."
-Daryl

Those are just some of my favorites that I could remember. Tell me some of yours and I'll post them and give you credit. Comment on this post or tweet me @TWD_Addictx

The Walking Dead Mid-Season Premiere Poster!

Phillip aka The Governor

Since we first met the Governor in season three I immediately disliked him. He just didn't seem right, if ya know what I mean.

The Governor or Phillip seemed to be a congenial man, but in reality he was a sociopath that would do anything and I mean anything to keep himself safe and happy. His first act of violence was when he took down military men. It only got worse from there. When he actually attacked the group of people I love the most I wanted him dead right there on the spot. Then Andrea actually had the chance to end his reign of terror, but she didn't take it. But that's okay because I thought Michonne or Maggie deserved to kill him themselves.

In season four we see a different side of Phillip. He shows his vulnerable and helpless side after he had been abandoned by Martinez. But that didn't last for long! As I had come to actually like Phillip The Walking Dead creators decide to throw in a major plot twist (of course!). I thought Phillip had changed, became a better man, left behind his violent past, but no he was a same old violent self. When he killed Martinez I knew he was a big threat to Rick and the others. I knew he wasn't over the past and still wanted revenge on Michonne and the rest of the group. They were safe and happy and he wasn't.

Needless to say I was ecstatic when Michonne finally ended that bastards life. It's sad that so many people had to lose their life before someone could finally catch him off guard and kill him, but hey that's The Walking Dead for ya.

Can't wait for February?!

Hello guys! Sorry I've been gone for so long, my life has been really hectic these past couple of months...

Anyway, I'm back!!

So it's been a while since the mid-season finale... how is everyone doing? Are you as sad and lost as I am? I don't know what to do with myself on Sunday nights anymore.

The fourth season has been really great! The governor is finally dead (I'll have to make a separate post for the governor... too many things to be said about him).
There were a couple things that I didn't like about season four.
          #1 Rick leaving Carol behind.
#2 Hershel's death. His death was so brutal!! He did not deserve to die that way.
#3 The prison group is now split into four or five smaller groups.

Well that's all I have to say for now. But I would love to hear what your thoughts are about this season or past seasons or anything. You can comment on my blog or tweet me @TWD_Addictx
